The Rabbit Hole

Lightning hits, a loud crash enters the air. ‘BOOM!’... ‘BOOM!’. I open my eyes to find that it’s raining, the rain looks as if it’s as thick as blood. There is a car in the distance that set off.
Haze and fog enter the area giving the world a horror movie type of feeling. This was the kind of day when the stories were talked of. Stories of the dead, days like these always excited me. I was eager find something to do before the day escaped me. Trying of thinking of what to do, I sat on the gargoyle’s head that was on the ground at the entrance of the maple wood crest. As I was thinking something moved at the side of me. Someone stepped over the gargoyle’s head, thus walking through me. I spotted wet dark hair, and a dark coat. “Hey!” I shouted. How rude, I thought. Then again it’s not like he can see me. Well no one has ever noticed me before so I assume no one can see me. So I guess I should start moving out of peoples’ way, but what's the point, it's not like anything happens when they walk through me..
I stared at the person walking towards the warehouse until I grew weary. My mind then started to pull away from me with a very calm feeling; scared of phasing, I walked into Maplewood Crest. Reading the bulletin board that was in the lobby, I found a paper that said ‘Elevator One is Out of Order, We Apologize for the Inconvenience’. With my new idea fresh in my head, I walk into the Broken Elevator. In an instant I find myself falling, and I’m suddenly in the Basement. I look at the wall adjacent to the Elevator, it read ‘The Cork and Dagger’. I looked around to find an ancient raggedy door that opened to show some drunks staggering out. They walked toward me to the wall, I followed them eager to enter the working elevator. They tried pushing the button, but every time they tried to push it they failed. It seemed like a lifetime, so I just went ahead and pushed the button. “Finnalllly John, Yoooo’ve got the button”. "I'm not sure I did.. but alright" said John.
“ Soo Ryan, Why arent our partie eleavator workk-king like it does?” “Well Tom, I don't work here so how would i know, but i heard that it's stuck on the twelfth floor.” “Awe Tom, Wee misse our party elevaatorr, them should fixe it soon”. We entered the elevator when it arrived. I waited for them to get off at the lobby, then I traveled to the twelfth floor. The elevator ride seemed to go so slow but the clock of the wall said only 2 minutes had past. Suddenly the doors opened showing the hallway. The hallway looked as if someone tried to paint white colored water over the old hall’s smooth cream color. The carpet on the floor had a gray tint to it; as if someone had rubbed charcoal over the floor. I stepped out of the elevator, to look at the painting that was adjacent to the elevators.
It was an old painting of General Maplewood, he was sitting contently on his large stallion, smiling happily at whoever walked past. There was a old wooden table under the painting holding two lamps and a small vase of daisies. Thunder crashed from outside, the lights flickered. I looked outside, the wind was causing the trees outside the apartments to bash about. It looked like they were dancing with the elements. I was about to pause and phase when a burst of lightning hit the ground, miles and miles away. It woke me, I thought back to my plan that would allow me to stay awake for awhile, or so i hoped. I walked through the shut doors of the ‘out of order elevator’. It was dark, I stood there for awhile; scared I had phased and would be somehow awake. After a while of thinking that I might not be awake during phasing and that i might actually be awake but just in a dark and empty elevator, I felt around in the small space. I found the buttons for the different floors. I clicked them, they brought me light in the dark space. I found enjoyment in both the sound and the light that I was bringing to the world around me. It continued for a long time, until there were thumps outside of my dark box. Scared, I kept on pushing the buttons, until i heard the thumps stop. I tried moving back out into the hallway, but my body found a space between the floor and the wall, and I fell, fell, fell. I’m Alice, falling into the rabbit hole I thought. I felt a calm sort of peace during my fall, and before I found the bottom of the rabbit hole..

Darkness
entered my mind..

Started was the Day

The day started as it always did, although there wasn't much difference with day and night. So I didn't really notice until I saw people up and about. The day started about as any other day, I hadn't woken up from anything; I can't sleep.. It's just not possible. The nights when I'm not roaming about, It's as if I'm just there, just a source of energy. So when everything is asleep, I become scared of what will become of me, so I try different things to stay awake.
It was as bright as a normal day, maybe even brighter than a normal day, The sun seemed like an ever growing fire, as I sat on the broken gargoyle's head, I noticed people going about their normal lives, but there was less than usual.. The noodles man; Mr. Ling had sweat dripping in beads around his face as he walked his regular route trying to sell noodles. I sat stagnant, on the gargoyle head. Looking around myself, trying to give something my mind to think about.
Behind me, was an old apartment building which looked as if it used to have been a grand apartment a long time ago. To my right was an old rusty bench and a bus sign. To my left stood a giant shadow of a building, the burnt out lights of the sign read 'Little Sailor's......'. What was curious was that there was a hole in the top half of the old hotel, as if someone huge had taken a big bite out of it. My mind drifted then to the ground, it was sizzling, the heat was rising, and I could certainly see it. An ocean of visible heat rays lifting from the ground, I watched it for awhile... It just seemed so calm and soothing... and....
'Blink' ......  'Blink, blink' Suddenly, it was dark as if someone had blew out the candle of the world. It was too dark to be normal, at least at nightfall the lights of the apartments would be on, but this seemed off..
The people were afraid of the dark, how could they go without light.
How curious, the world; it was so dark.
